Palace of the Marquis of Monesterio

Logroño Palace of the Marquis of Monesterio

The Palace of the Marquis of Monesterio, which currently houses the main headquarters of the Social Security in Logroño, is an extraordinary example of Renaissance civil architecture in the central Plaza de San Bartolomé.

Apparently, its origin dates back to the 16th century, when Francisco de Tejada and Inés de Sesma built a house on the corner of San Bartolomé and Herrerías streets.

In the middle of the 18th century, when the Marquis of Monesterio was already owners, the Palace that we can see today was built.

The most recent restoration of this Renaissance palace was completed in 2009. The new rooms were organized around its patio with a well. Its restoration contemplated from the original part of the house (16th century) on Calle Herrerías, until its extension towards the Church of San Bartolomé in the 18th century.

The Palacio de Monesterio closes its façade coinciding with Calle Herrerías and from that point you can see the Tower and the stained glass windows of the Church of Santa María de Palacio.

Calle San Bartolomé, 4. 26001 Logroño.
