The Rafael Azcona municipal library inaugurates ArteFáfrica, an art room to create and develop works related to illustration and the arts of the book.
ArteFábrica is a space located on the second floor of the municipal library equipped with suitable material and furniture to carry out different tasks related to illustration and the arts of the book.
The renovation of the room is based on the “maker” activity, with the spirit of conceiving a collaborative space between users where they can create and develop works related to illustration and book arts, meet people with similar interests, explore new technologies and learn by doing.
The room has tools and materials for screen printing, xylography, engraving, binding, stamping, as well as computer equipment and laser equipment and technologies.
In addition, an area of the room has been conditioned for the installation of water pipes, sink, insulating screens, among other elements, for cleaning the materials used by the users in the space.
The use of this space is defined according to three modalities:
- Individual Project Modality. Where users can propose and develop a job that complements their learning, either with innovative or entrepreneurial ideas, or with jobs derived from their educational process.
- Collective mode. Where users can unleash their ideas and creativity through group work proposals. This modality seeks to promote group work, multidisciplinarity and entrepreneurship by offering a space for meeting and teamwork.
- Modality Associations and entities. The associations and entities of Logroño have in ArteFábrica a space where they can develop their projects and activities, both creative and dissemination.
The final projects or arts could have a projection as a creative evolution in the exhibition spaces of the Rafael Azcona Library.
The ArteFábrica space will also be open for different artists to give workshops, within non-profit actions or through creativity and learning projects, of interest to Logroño.
To use the ArteFábrica space, it will be necessary to fill out an application form and propose a project in any of the modes of use. The project must be related to illustration and all variants of book art.
When a proposal is accepted, it must be justified that it is qualified to use the equipment or pass a training process to use it, in the company of the workshop teacher.
The room is managed by a workshop teacher who will start with: 4 hours of opening for all audiences from October to May of the school year, Tuesday to Friday, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
All natural persons or non-profit associations may use the ArteFábrica facilities. For the use of the facilities and the use of the equipment of the ArteFábrica room, 2 euros of public price will be charged, for the realization of a project in a session of a maximum duration of four hours, per person and day.
ArteFábrica will open to the public on October 1, 2022, with a program of scheduled workshops on binding and screen printing, which will allow us to delve into some of the techniques that can be learned, and explore the possibilities of this new space for collective creation and production.
