Logroño Greenway of El Cortijo

The Vía Verde de El Cortijo is a greenway that runs along the Ebro in one of its meanders, at the height of the El Cortijo neighborhood of Logroño. It has been adapted by the Logroño City Council.

It is a rural path suitable for walking with kids that runs along the old train tracks of the Castejón-Bilbao line. It is especially beautiful In autumn, as it is surrounded by vineyards. This Vía Verde offers two viewpoints to enjoy the landscapes of the Ebro and Sierra de Cantabria.

It is part of the Vías Verdes and Red Natura 2000 project, which has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of the Government of Spain.

Length: 3 km (5 km from the center of Logroño).

Users: hikers, cyclists, horseback riding. Adapted for people with reduced mobility.

Type of road surface: Greenway with mixed road surface.

Natural Environment: Riverside landscape in a meander of the Ebro river. Views of the Sierra de Cantabria. Vineyards, cereals and riverside orchard.

Cultural heritage: Monumental complex of Logroño. Roman Bridge of Mantible, 2nd century AD, Castillete, Parish Church of Santa Margarita in El Cortijo.

Infrastructure: Vía Verde, two parking lots, two viewpoints and a rest area.

How to get there

  • By road from El Cortijo towards the hermitage of Christ.
  • By bike following the outer bike lane 5b El Cortijo.
  • Walking or cycling on the GR-99.
